Michael Murray wins the 87th Montana Open

The 87th Montana Open was held in Missoula April 2-3. It was well attended with 39 players including quite a few new players who performed quite well. We’d like to welcome them and sincerely hope they continue with their chess careers.

Expert Michael Murray from Washington won overall 1st with Wilton Strickland Daniel Mattson, Darren Stacey, and Rasul Nazriev tying for 2nd. They also won the Class A & B prizes. Michael Muller and Ryan Newhouse tied for the “C” prize with Daniel Carlino winning “D/E.” Ryan Newhouse also won Biggest Upset.

The MCA and myself would also like to thank everyone for such a good tournament.
