Montana Scholastic Chess Championships – April 27th in Butte!!

For the first time ever we will determine our K-5, 6-8, and 9-12 State Champions over the board instead of by rating.

The winners will be nominated to represent Montana at the tournaments of State Champions in Norfolk, VA in July/August.

What: Montana Scholastic State Championship Tournament (K-5, 6-8, 9-12, Possibly Girls K-12)

Where: Butte Comfort Inn, 2777 Harrison Ave, Butte, MT 59701
Room Rate: $119 per night for Friday and/or Saturday night.

When: Saturday April 27th starting at 10am.

Who: K-5, 6-8, and 9-12 USCF Rated Chess Players.  USCF Membership is required

Why: To determine who is nominated to represent Montana in Norfolk VA at the tournaments of state champions.

Girls Tournament: If we have enough interest we will have a girls tournament, if not girls will play in their respective tournaments and the top rated player at the end of the day will be named the girls champion.

Some notes:

-Unfortunately all costs to attend the national tournaments are on the families although we will share any fundraising efforts with our networks.

-PRE-REGISTRATION IS REQUIRED.  No day of tournament registration.

-Four (or five depending on attendance) rounds of Game 25/delay 5.  Dual rated regular and quick.

-Swiss or round robin determined by number of players

-Entry fee is; $0

-The comfort Inn will have 10 rooms blocked for us on Friday night and Saturday night at $119 per room.  We may finish very late on Saturday so keep that in mind.

-Rounds will begin at 10am, Noon, 2pm, 5pm, and 7pm if necessary
