Alex Karns completed the triple crown of Montana Chess, winning the state championship this past weekend in Helena after having won the Grand Prix and Montana Open.

Three players didn’t lose a game at the Closed: Alex, John Julian & Richard Hobbs but Alex had one more win than John & Richard, who tied for second.

Special thanks to Richard, who joined the Closed on short notice when Rasul was unable to attend. Note that half of the players in the Closed were juniors, whose parents are younger than Richard.

Richard (Senior) and Alex (HS) will be among the players representing Montana at the invitationals at the US Open in a couple of weeks !
