Benjamin Vogel, who recently moved to Montana from Maryland, won clear 1st in this year’s Turkey Open. Young Dorje McPherron of Missoula won 2nd; Scott Caldwell of Missoula and young Jonathan Geyman of Bonner’s Ferry, ID shared the “B” prize; Michael Muller of Bozeman snared the “C” prize, and young Christian Fink of Billings garnered both the “D/E”prize and Biggest Upset prize.
The tournament was again held at the Grant Creek Best Western and well attended with 32 players from various locations around Washington, Idaho and Montana providing for a good variety of opponents. Thanks to everyone who traveled; it made for a very nice tournament.
As indicated above there were quite few upsets, and corresponding long faces on some others, instigated by new, young players (Now we just need to gift our Spokane friends with them for a tournament or 2!)
