Billings Blitz – 10/2/2019

Nine players ventured out to the Last Chance Pub & Cider Mill on Wednesday, October 2nd, for Billings 2nd speed chess tournament. The games took place in the warehouse room (apple storage) just off of the main dining room. There were two very effective space heaters to combat the cooler temperature. Though the lighting was a bit dim, the players were very positive about the venue. It definitely helped to have a clock like the ZMF-II to adequately see the clock tick down.

Mo Bain remained hot only losing 1 game over the last two tourneys. Dustin Sneeden beat him head to head to secure a 1st place tie with Mo scoring 6.5/8. Dustin’s only loss came at the hands of Michael Troyer, whose play continues to improve. Dan Mattson and Josh Brown shared 2nd place at 5.5/8. Josh could have shared first if he had not made an illegal move against Michael in the final round! (doh!)

All the players expressed enjoyment and a desire to repeat the experience in November. Date pending…
